Biography
I believe reaching out for support is not always easy and being able to connect with your therapist is an important part in the success of the process. I strive to meet my clients’ where they are, listening so they are heard, and working with them in an empathetic, nonjudgmental and supportive atmosphere. I want to provide a space to help support individuals, couples and families in their process towards healing. I incorporate a variety of approaches including cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, strength-based and family systems. I believe connection is the antidote to suffering and through the therapeutic process and relationship together; we can develop skills to address the challenges faced along life’s journey.
I have extensive training in neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and have worked with families navigating the challenges of those disorders from diagnosis, treatment planning, educational advocacy, and parent training. I specialize in working with military members and their families facing a variety of issues including deployments, family dynamics/changes, post-traumatic stress, perinatal mood disorders, parenting, depression, anxiety, and grief/loss. I am one of multiple professionals in our practice that specialize in the treatment of trauma in adults, adolescents, and children, especially trauma that occurred in their development. This may include deep shame, depression, anxiety, PTSD, or Borderline Personality Disorder. Our practice specializes in the treatment of extreme emotional dysregulation including chronic suicidality and self-harming behaviors by providing an adherent Dialectical Behavior Therapy program for adolescents, young adults, and adults. I have completed my foundational training through Behavioral Tech in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and am a part of the Beach Therapy & Consulting DBT Team. I am also a part of Radically Open DBT Adaptation Team.
Since entering the field of social work, I have had diverse professional experiences working as a therapist in agencies serving the military, private practice, residential treatment facilities, community mental health organizations, and university counseling centers. My mission is to support you and let you know you are not alone and worthy of creating meaningful lasting changes. I encourage all my clients to not be afraid to ask for what you need, set limits, and be open to feedback.
